We took a great three day weekend getaway to Mackinaw City/Island. We had our first cabin camping experience and we are hooked! We had an awesome two bedroom cabin. The girls got to sleep upstairs in a loft, which they loved! We were steps away from Lake Huron. The girls had a blast digging in the sand and exploring the lakeshore. We also rode our bikes all around the campsite, had hobo dinners, and sat around the fire.

We explored Mackinaw City and enjoyed the shops and ice cream. It turned out to be colder than I thought it would be and I forgot jackets so we all got sweaters!
Playing in the sand.
We had to take the ferry to Mackinaw Island. It was so windy and cold.
Ben with his fire. It was a beautiful fire!

I'm cold!
Once we got to Mackinaw Island we got on our bikes and rode and rode and rode. The downtown part was okay. I'm not one for window shopping and most shops seemed to be the same so I preferred biking around the island than being downtown. There was some good fudge though.
We biked around the whole island. We spent hours biking! It was very pretty and relaxing. We could bike at our own pace and stop whenever we wanted. The weather was so nice for us too.
Stopping for lunch.
I take my band with me everywhere!
Stopping to skip rocks.
Arch Rock
As we were biking Audrey spotted this snake on the road. I don't know how she saw it while biking but she was so excited.

Taking another break.
Climbing up to see Arch Rock
There was a Butterfly Exhibit a little past the downtown area that we decided to go to. There were lots and beautiful butterflies.
Taking my band to see Skull Cave.

Sharing the road with a horse and buggy.
This was a great trip that I think we will do again someday. I wish it didn't take 6 hours to get here! We will definitely be going cabin camping again!
