Two recent interludes between Audrey and myself (I was going to say two recent conversations but to be truly honest these weren't really that, more like her comments to me).
I was finishing our bedtime routine and was trying to get Audrey to stop jumping on her bed and say her personal prayers. At my third request Audrey said to me: "Mommy, you are making me responsible! And angry!" I busted out laughing. I seem to remember that I was having many discussions with Alexis about being responsible that week. And as an afterthought it is true! My job as a mother is to make my girls BOTH responsible and angry! Then I know I am doing my job properly! :)
Audrey really likes me to pack her a lunch every morning because she wants to be like Alexis. Well, we forgot this morning. Alexis was having hot lunch at school and I thought we could forego Audrey's lunch. When I picked Audrey up at preschool she told me she was sooo hungry, which she tells me every time I pick her up from preschool. I told we were going right home to eat. Well, the whole way home and then for several minutes after we got home she said over and over: "Mommy, you didn't make me a lunch! That makes me frustrated!" But she says it frusterated. She also said it makes her "impressed." I assume she was trying to say depressed, although I don't know where she got that word. But once she said impressed she realized she had no idea what she was trying to say and so went back to frustrated.
I told Audrey that I was going to wait and go grocery shopping while she was in preschool. She said, "Why?" I said because then I can go without her. She protested: "But I like going with you!" How sweet is that. And it's really true. She helps me pick out EVERYTHING. She knows almost all the fruit and vegetable names, even though we don't eat half of them! She also likes to put all the food on the conveyer belt and bags the groceries. She gets so disappointed when there is a bagger there. She just loves doing whatever I am doing. She has been helping me cook dinner and anything else she can weasel her way into. I also started teaching her how to do the laundry because she kept complaining that she was bored and wanted to pick up Alexis!
She is my sweet, energetic shadow!
