Today the 2nd graders in Alexis' school went on a field trip to a rollerskating rink. I decided to chaperon because I thought it would be fun and I really do love to roller skate. Alexis really wanted me to ride the bus with her so I did. That will be my last bus riding experience. I really hate riding the bus. They are seriously gross! First of all, it smelled. I immediately put down as many windows as I could. Second, my shoes were sticking to the floor, and third, there were swear words written on the backs of the seats. I turned to Alexis and said, this is why you don't ride the bus to and from school! This is her best friend, Emily J. They are so funny together. Such girls!
This is right before we left the rink. Mrs. Wright is in the back. Alexis has loved having her as a teacher. Although, I think it would take a lot for Alexis to not like any teacher.
This is a terrible picture but the only one I could get of Alexis on her skates. She spent the first half of the time on the wall and then got braver and better at skating and was able to really skate around with minimal falls. The majority of her falls came from trying to make the arm movements to the song "YMCA."I spent the first hour with someone attached to my right hand. I took the kids around the floor who were stuck to the wall. I just think it's sad to go to a roller rink and have to hang onto the wall. I wanted them to feel how it is without the wall. It was fun to watch their faces. I spent the next half hour picking up the kids who had fallen hard enough to cry, taking them off the rink, and getting them ice. I think I actually got to skate for about 30 minutes. It was hard to maneuver too because some kids were crazy, careening this way and that and I had to be careful not to make them fall or run into them! It was really fun though. EXCEPT for the bus ride!
This is the latest idea from my two girls. They take every blanket, pillow, and stuffed animal in the house and put it on the living room floor and then jump onto them from the couches. I don't mind so much except that I can't walk through the living room! I make them pick up everything themselves though!Okay, I put this video on so you could see how loud the bus was. I was sitting RIGHT next to Alexis and Emily J while they were singing this song. You can tell they are singing and can sort of hear them. If I couldn't hear them when they were sitting that close to me imagine my 25 minute bus ride back to the school. Yeah, it stunk. All my bus riding years came back to me and those were NOT great memories.

Looks like a very fun field trip. Abby loves to ride the bus when they go on field trips, I NEVER do. We miss you guys.
you make me nervous for mer on the bus next year...also, I really thought the girl in red was Audrey! they look so similar lately!
That has not been my bus riding experience! Lillian's bus is clean, no writing on the seats, and doesn't seem to stink. I would drive Lillian if that was our experience. Looks like the kids had fun at the activity!
